This winter transfer window is always a time of feverish speculation and possible major transfers. A number of notable players find themselves linked with transfers out of their current teams. This article explores some of the key names who might be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the player in contention, reports suggest an important transfer is close. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a contract featuring a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a short window in early January. Latest developments suggest Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his services. Other suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to alternative targets, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

The English centre-back has continued to excel for Palace this season a summer move to Liverpool falling through. With his deal due to expire in the summer, this represents the club's last chance to secure a fee for their skipper. A host of top clubs, such as Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. However, a January exit remains unlikely, especially given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh forward has had first-team minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Despite finishing as the club's top scorer last season, he has begun only a handful of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the North London outfit would be open to a sale for the correct price, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Tottenham rate the Welsh international at approximately £40m.

R. Neves

This Portuguese midfielder could be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, and with his contract expiring in the summer, he represents a possible bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he is willing to accept a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

This veteran Germany goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barcelona under the coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a January departure seems highly probable. Villa were once linked as a potential destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This proven English striker has continued scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League could enhance his dwindling hopes of being in the England squad. However, securing a deal presents major hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to sell him, and his alleged enormous weekly wages render any move complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as admirers.

The highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ first team. This teenager is heavily expected to complete a major move this month. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at approximately £22 million.
